principle of motorcycle metal catalytic converter

The basic principle of catalytic reaction:

Catalysts accelerate chemical reactions by providing a low energy path that reduces the activation energy of the reaction. Motorcycle catalysts use metal catalysts (usually precious metals such as platinum, palladium, rhodium) to promote the conversion of harmful substances in the exhaust, such as carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxides, and hydrocarbons.

Chemical reaction process:

The catalytic converter of a motorcycle usually consists of a honeycomb metal or ceramic substrate coated with the catalyst metal. Exhaust gases pass through this honeycomb substrate, and chemical reactions on the surface of the metal catalyst convert harmful gases into harmless ones.

The role of motorcycle metal catalytic converter

Reduce carbon monoxide (CO) emissions:

Carbon monoxide is a product of incomplete combustion and is toxic to humans and the environment. Catalytic converters can convert carbon monoxide into non-toxic carbon dioxide (CO₂), reducing air pollution.

Reduce hydrocarbon (HC) emissions:

Hydrocarbons (such as unburned fuel molecules) are common contaminants during combustion. Catalytic converters convert it to carbon dioxide and water through oxidation reactions, reducing air pollution.

Reduce nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions:
