2. How it Works

When exhaust gases flow through the catalytic converter, they pass over the ceramic substrate coated with the precious metals. These metals help to break the bonds of harmful molecules in the gases, allowing them to react with oxygen or other elements to form less harmful compounds.

Carbon Monoxide (CO): This is a poisonous gas formed from incomplete combustion. In the catalytic converter, it is oxidized to form carbon dioxide (CO2), which is less harmful.
